We find ourselves with more time
Welling up in the pools of our home
Devising ways to make it fly
Reading more books and watching more shows
Digging deep into the playlists
Artists, while struggling to make ends meet
Supplement the fear by being creative
Authors write, painters paint
I’m tired
Tired of the one bad apple rhetoric
Tired of waiting for a change systemic
Tired of of screaming they just don’t get it
Tired of knowing they actually do
And just don’t care so the system keeps going
Tired of feeling compelled to write these kind of poems
Tired of being given the opportunity
The subject matter
Vaccinated
One shot

Necessary to be a part
A return to society is a common vision
I am not finished yet
I am a work in progress
In process
Incomplete and at the same time whole
I know my story even though it’s untold
It’s familiar with a well-known structure
But right now, it isn’t the full tale

In another article a few days ago we looked at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy. The oldest, still operating indoor theatre in the world. It was built in 1585. Today, let’s go outdoors. And let’s go a little further back in theatre history. Far enough back, in fact, to make the Teatro Olimpico look like a teenager. This trio of poems was written in my early and formative years; between the ages of 14 to 20. Each one addresses relationships and is said from the perspective of the writer. The first two are about friendships and the third about finding that special someone.

Editors Note: Noelle Croner, originally from the USA, lives in Macau, China. Noelle plays “The Dark Queen”, a lead character in “The House of Dancing Water”, a 250 million dollar aquatic mega show in Macau. Noelle writes about her transition from the USA to China and the impact it had on her personal life. Through journaling and writing, she worked through the changes in her life and continues to write regularly. This poem was performed by a group of artists for a charity show in Macau to raise funds for a suicide support hotline in the local area.
