Oper! Awards 2024
For the first time ever, the Oper! Awards 2024 took place outside of Germany and were more international than previous years. The awards ceremony was live streamed from Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The awards took place 29 January of this year and 20 winners walked away with Oper! Awards.

At Stratford’s Shakespeare Theater, A Dream Becomes a Nightmare
The Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, CT mysteriously burned to the ground on January 13 of this year. It was reported today in The New York Times that a pair of local teens are charged with arson in the case, perhaps having set the blaze as a lark or prank, just as the local community was warming to the idea of activating this hallowed space with more community events.
Broadway Workshops and Labs: Why We Need Them
The Broadway community has reached a standstill over a dispute regarding insufficient payment for participation in development work such as workshops and labs. In a recent New York Times article, it was reported that “about a quarter of all Broadway shows use developmental labs to test out material, and there are several labs scheduled in coming months that will not take place unless the dispute is settled.”
The Cost Of Broadway
There is something to be said about the current price of a ticket to see a Broadway show. I had the humbling experience of attempting to buy my five-year old cousin tickets to what would be her first Broadway show, Frozen, and realizing the venture would cost me over $500.00.
