I’m sure you’ve heard it before. You’ve got to network. You’ve got to get involved. You’ve got to meet the right people. Well, here it is again. It’s really important to network. And get involved. And meet the right people. Because your skill will only take you so far, knowing the right people will take you farther.
Over the past 18 months I’ve delivering presentations and seminars on working in theatre and the question that is often asked is how do you get into theatre? There is no simple answer because everyone who works in theatre has had a different route into the industry. Below are some tips for anyone who is aspiring to work in the industry.
Matt: A recent NY Times article got some traction with this headline, Remember: What You Do Is Not Who You Are.
Alex and Matt: We (respectfully) disagree lol. In fact, we believe you ARE what you do…and that’s okay (because it can change).
Matt: When you’re a kid, adults ask you “So….what do you want to be when you grow up?”
When you grow up, adults ask you “So…what do you do?”

The 73rd Annual Tony Awards certainly did not disappoint. An evening of glamour, show stopping performances, breathtaking speeches and even some commercial-break-karaoke, set this year’s awards show apart from the 72 that preceded it in more ways than one.
