Romain Tarrusson is the founder and president of the annual What a Trip! festival in Montpellier. The festival encompasses an amazing selection of travel documentaries, a film competition, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and the “Village du Voyage”, a lively tent village with information, food, events, and daily concerts.

On 24th October 2020, I attended a Concert Partage in Montpellier’s opera house. It was a refreshing mix of genres. A burst of creativity. And also a surprisingly interactive event. With the help of the audience, a detective searched for run-away orchestra musicians. Her search took us on a journey around the world.

At the end of September 2020, I was fortunate to experience the What a Trip! festival in the beautiful city of Montpellier, in France. This festival is a celebration of travel and nature, presented through the eyes of documentary filmmakers and photographers.
The Momentous Re-Opening of Montpellier’s La Comédie
During the last two months, I’ve been hiking from Switzerland to the Mediterranean Sea, in an effort to do something positive in a year that has been anything but. I love being a stage manager… and I miss it. I also love going to as many live performances as possible as an audience member… and I miss it. So, experiencing the momentous re-opening of Montpellier’s La Comédie on Sept 11, 2020 was one of the major highlights of my journey, thus far.
