We like to blame everything on that voice in our head telling us we’re not good enough. But it hit me the other day that maybe we are so focused on ignoring any negative voices in our head that we are depriving ourselves of progress.

Have you ever had a little voice in your head whispering that you don’t know what you’re doing? Ever looked around the room with a sinking feeling that you’re the least qualified person there? In small doses, these impulses can push us to improve, to get help and learn from those who’ve come before us. However, when that mentality seeps into our lives and latches on for months, years, or even decades, we find ourselves faced with the far more problematic Imposter Syndrome.

There are many, MANY things that tend to hold actors back from really leaning into their careers but the number one reason seems to be a lack of faith. Without a solid sense of what you’re capable of and knowing that its value will, in fact, carry you to the finish line, this industry will almost undoubtedly break you.
