This is a book about Simon the backstage cat. He rides with his leading lady to every rehearsal and performance. And while we follow Simon’s adventures, we learn a bit about that magical realm behind the curtains. The book is recommended for ages 5 to 7 and a great way to introduce your kids to the world backstage.
For film fans of all genres out there, let me share with you my Top 10 of what I believe to be the best ‘Making Of’ books. I don’t know about you, but when I see a cinematographic highlight which particularly intrigues or impresses me, I always love to see and read more about it, delve deeper. And there are some books out there which are a beauty to look and read through, explaining so much more about the films themselves, and about their creators.

With Christmas break 2021 just ahead of us, and new Covid restrictions and lockdowns looming yet again on the horizon, I am thinking of what to read, and re-read. Storytelling can change lives. Twenty-seven years ago, I walked into Sec52, a small bookstore in Zurich. I was bored during my summer job and needed some reading material to keep my mind occupied. So, I bought a book which ended up changing my life forever. A book which opened a door and sped up a process which might otherwise have taken a good ten years longer.
It all began with a failed job opportunity in Hong Kong in October 2013. Part of me was disappointed when I realized I wasn’t going to be the production manager of a prestigious events management company after all. Mostly, however, I rejoiced and immediately thought, “This is it. I can finally write my memoir.” For years, I had dreamt of doing just that.
