Tenacious D Announce US West Coast Summer Tour TheatreArtLife

Tenacious D have announced the exciting news that they will reunite for a US West Coast run of shows in the summer of 2022. Following the musical comedy duos impressive 20th anniversary of their first album release (has it really been that long?), audiences in North America will be happy to know that tickets are now available to transport fans back to a simpler time.

Tenacious D shows

Perhaps best-known for their iconic song ‘Tribute’, the duo made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass have consistently created music and content over the years. The summer tour is set to kick off in June, and comes in the wake of the successful ‘advent calendar’ and merchandise that has been released recently and subsequently went down a storm with rock comedy fans. This merchandise has included an eclectic mix of cover tracks, behind the scenes footage, and even a Tenacious D NFT.

Initial tour dates and the links to purchase tickets or sign up to updates when details are announced, are so far listed on the band’s website as:

Looking to the future

Speaking to Rolling Stone back in September 2021 about their history and creation of the band, Jack Black talked and reflected on the 20 year anniversary, and explained his thoughts on what has kept the duo so exciting and creatively engaging:

“It’s been rad to do a little doff of our cap to our first album. It was such a huge moment in our lives. So, we knew we had to mark the occasion. It’d be weird not to. When you say, was it fun for us to do it? It’s not really for us. It’s for the fans. It’s only for the fans!

You know, we’re still Tenacious from the block. It’s like when you strike a gold mine, or like there’s a geyser of bubbling crude — like we struck oil, why would you stop pumping? Just keep pumping until it’s dry. It’s just bubbling crude. Now, will we someday bail and just go full electric. Maybe? But right now? That black gold just keeps on a-spraying.”

The duo are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon, and in addition to the live dates their latest offering, the 2020 Graphic Novel and audiobook accompaniment Post-Apocalypto has been extremely well-received with Tenacious D fans everywhere. We hope the live dates will extend out of the USA (restrictions permitting) and that more anniversary dates will follow across continents, as the duo have announced on their website, it’s ‘Time to melt some faces!!!!’
