A charity auction supporting The Stone Roses bass player Gary (Mani) Mounfield and his wife Imelda has kicked off this month. The Mancunian musician launched the cause in order to raise money for The Christie cancer hospital and Stockport NHS charity that treated Imelda back in 2021.
The auction items
While the auction lots are bursting at the seams with musical instruments and paraphernalia, there are even more unique goodies from celebrities far and wide who have rallied together for the cause. Auctioneer site adampartridge.co.uk teases:
David Beckham’s signed football boots, worn at his last ever match for PSG in May 2013; John Squire’s hand-painted and signed Hofner guitar; a vintage 1966 Vespa 150 Sprint scooter; a 7-night 5* holiday at The Finolhu Resort in The Maldives, Noel Gallagher’s personal 6 x Platinum ‘What’s the Story Morning Glory’ album presentation framed discs and Damon Albarn’s signed Taylor guitar, with which he has composed many songs in the last 10 years…these are just some of the incredible donations up for grabs in a very special online auction, which will go live next week.
Aside from the items mentioned above, lots include signed presentation discs from The Stone Roses and Johnny Marr; signed guitars from the Foo Fighters, The Who, and Peter Hook; Sunburst (Silver Glow), a stunning digital print by Jim Lambie; a7-night stay in a French country estate; a year’s supply of wine from Cork of the North; Liam Gallagher’s personal NME Gold award; an overnight stay at Manchester’s Stock Hotel with a pre-dinner drink in Sterling Bar, dinner for 2 in Tom Kerridge’s Bull & Bear Restaurant and breakfast the following morning with members of The Class of ’92! Plus, there are paintings, prints, restaurant dinners and a whole lot more!
How to bid
The online auction went live on Friday, 18 November. Anyone around the world can bid for these items online – there will be an extensive list of everything on offer displayed on the Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers website. The online auction runs until Thursday, 1 December.
All proceeds from the online auction and the evening event will go to The Christie Hospital and Stockport NHS Charity, two charities close to Imelda and Mani’s hearts.
Louise Stimson, Head of Fundraising at The Christie charity, said:
“We’re really touched that Imelda’s experiences as a patient have spurred her and Mani into action for our charity, helping us provide more support to patients like her. Mani obviously has legendary status in Manchester, and I’m sure all their plans will result in a legendary event and auction too.”
Karen James OBE, Chief Executive for the Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“We’re hugely grateful to Imelda and Mani’s efforts in organising this fundraising event and auction. We’re proud of the care Imelda and many others with cancer have received at Stepping Hill Hospital. This fundraiser for our charity is a really touching display of her thanks, which will help us go on to support more patients in the future.”
Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham, who has given his support to the event and auction said:
“It’s a huge honour to support Imelda and Mani, and everyone else involved with organising this fantastic fundraiser for two excellent organisations, The Christie Hospital and the Stockport NHS Charity. Most of us will have friends and family who have been affected by cancer, so it’s an incredibly worthwhile cause.”
