Taylor Swift has once again excited fans with an unexpected song release ahead of her new album release Fearless which is due to go live on 9th April.
Mr. Perfectly Fine
Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, Taylor Swift quipped:
Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up
My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: “REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE” https://t.co/PCexr31q9x

The new song Swift released on 7th April without prior warning is titled Mr. Perfectly Fine and is sweetly labelled as being ‘from the vault’ which refers to the unheard nature of the track – the previously unreleased offering is in fact from way back in 2008.
Not only is the new single ‘from the vault’, but Swifties can look forward to other material from the same period on the new album; a track titled You All Over Me (feat. Maren Morris) is also available to fans who pre-order the new collection.

Fearless – Taylor’s Version
The new album Fearless – Taylor’s Version is a reference to the re-recording of many of the tracks that people have come to know and love, but that have been newly rearranged by the singer. Following an arduous battle with her record label about ownership of the recordings to her previous work, Swift took a stand and made the decision to record new versions of her older songs, so that she would own these recordings.
Additionally, the narrative around these re-recordings has been an interesting one – now that Swift is more experienced and looks back in hindsight, she has openly stated that she’s happy she’s been through this process, as it’s enabled her to realise her original visions of what she had actually wanted the songs to be – but had been ultimately directed against by those who had the final say in the past.
Fearless consists of a mix between ‘Taylor’s Version’ tracks and those ‘from the vault’ which is a pleasant merging of old-meets-new. Revisiting unreleased material, as well as rearranging unfulfilled visions must have been a very cathartic and empowering process for Swift, and there is much anticipation on what direction the tracks will take.
Official Lyrics
Mr. perfect face
Mr. here to stay
Mr. looked me in the eye and told me you would never go away
Everything was right
Mr. I’ve been waiting for you all my life
Mr. every single day until the end I will be by your side
But that was when I got to know
Mr. change of heart
Mr. leaves me all alone I fall apart
It takes everything in me just to get up each day
But it’s wonderful to see that you’re okay
Hello, Mr. perfectly fine
How’s your heart after breaking mine?
Mr. always at the right place at the right time, baby
Hello, Mr. casually cruel
Mr. everything revolves around you
I’ve been Miss misery since your goodbye
And you’re Mr. perfectly fine
Mr. never told me why
Mr. never had to see me cry
Mr. insincere apology so he doesn’t look like the bad guy
He goes about his day
Forgets he ever even heard my name
Well I thought you might be different than the rest
I guess you’re all the same
Because I hear he’s got his arm ‘round a brand new girl
I’ve been picking up my heart
He’s been picking up her
And I never got past what you put me through
But it’s wonderful to see that it never phased you
Repeat chorus
So dignified in your well pressed suit
So strategized
All the eyes on you
Sashay away to your seat
It’s the best seat
In the best room
Oh, he’s so smug
Mr. always wins
So far above me in every sense
So far above feeling anything
And it’s really such a shame
It’s such a shame
Cause I was Miss here to stay
Now I’m Miss gonna be alright someday
And someday maybe you’ll miss me
But by then you’ll be Mr. too late
Goodbye, Mr. perfectly fine
How’s your heart after breaking mine?
Mr. always at the right place at the right time, baby
Goodbye, Mr. casually cruel
Mr. everything revolves around you
I’ve been Miss misery for the last time
And you’re Mr. perfectly fine
You’re perfectly fine
Mr. look me in the eye and tell me you
