Here For The Music is a sexual violence prevention pledge by Calling All Crows. The campaign is supported by the creation of practical implementation of new policies, codes of conduct, and language to share in solidarity, as well as training resources.
Here For The Music Pledge
In the USA April is #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth. Calling All Crows are encouraging all people to get involved with the campaign, which was founded in 2008 by musician Chad Stokes and Tour Manager Sybil Gallagher to bring their commitment to hands-on service and activism on the road. Since then, they have continued to connect music fans with feminist movements for justice and equality.
The Here For The Music Pledge is a fairly recent addition to the work done by Calling All Crows, as stories of sexual violence in the music industry have been coming to the surface at an alarming rate, even during this pandemic.
They explain:
“We’ve received requests for help coming up with new policies, codes of conduct, and language to share in solidarity.
In response, we created a Here for the Music pledge so that music industry professionals can make a public commitment to taking an active role in making the music industry safer. From this pledge to our Sexual Violence Prevention and Response online training, we’re building resources so that as touring and festivals return, we can rebuild our industry in a way that is safer and more inclusive.
Share the pledge and our Here for the Music campaign with your favorite artists, venues, and festivals using our digital toolkit.
Live music is a place for fun, community, and open expression – sexual harassment and assault don’t belong.
We want to live in a world without sexual violence. We believe in music’s power to create change.
Modeling the culture we want is part of that, so we are fighting against sexual violence at shows and festivals.
Our #HereForTheMusic campaign works to build true safety with all parties who come together to create a show or festival: artists, promoters, fans, venue staff, touring professionals, media professionals, and more.
We have worked with 85+ artists, venues, and festivals to date and trained 3000+ people. Join us?”
