Hard rock band Guns N’ Roses have released a new single, “Hard Skool” ahead of their world tour set to commence in North America on 26th September following a year of postponed and cancelled dates due to the pandemic restrictions around live music that saw the band reschedule a large number of planned gigs.
Hard Skool – the new single
The interesting thing about Hard Skool has to be the fact that the track was actually created for the 2008 album Chinese Democracy – the first album the band released since 1993’s The Spaghetti Incident and follows another long break between records. While Guns N’ Roses previous single release ABSUЯD in August 2021 was something of a sonic departure on Axl Rose’s vocal sound, Hard Skool is an uplifting, relentlessly catchy guitar-driven rock track that sounds like the band have never been away. The vocals sound classic as ever over the layering of Slash’s earworm licks and dexterous lead parts, while of course the solid rhythm backline is steadily chugging away providing a challenge for any listener not to rock out to.
