Vaccinated
One shot
Ok, 2 shots.
2 weeks apart
Necessary to be a part
A return to society is a common vision
Yet those who boast freedom
Speak in contradictions
The pathway to the desired goal
They say has too many restrictions
So they rage against the machine
And face incarceration convictions
Ignorance and privilege
Making nationally strange bedfellows
People claiming to be alive
Ignoring their dead fellows
Putting my trust in the science
Despite a sketchy history
Paying attention to those seeking
Clears away the fog of mystery
Go get it and let’s return to
Don’t be afraid, don’t be concerned of
Whether J&J, Pfizer or Moderna
From elementary dropouts to the well-learned
There is no need to be alarmed
About the injection in either arm
You won’t be magnetized
No tracking devices
You’ll be protected
From a deadly virus
Put it in me
It’s worth the risk
I need the embraces
Of my contact list
My friends who have been outside my clutches
For longer than a full year
I hear the songs of love and connection
Singing to me, full of elation
I am so thankful for my vaccination
