I am a both a dance and stage play SM primarily as those are my regular employers, but I do enjoy calling musicals and one of my very favorite productions was a multi-media live concert that I’ve called for a couple of years. Challenging and enjoyable!
BONUS QUESTION
11. Advice for new Stage Managers
Be as versatile as you can. Learn how to set/program lighting, edit sound, be willing to lay the marley floor down for a dance show. I have found my background as a past technical director helps me to be able to talk on the same level as the technical team on any given production and able to translate back to the rest of the production team accurately when needed. It makes you more employable!
