Online Conference HOPE! From European Theatre Network PlayOn!

Online Conference HOPE! From European Theatre Network PlayOn!

HOPE is on the way!

The online conference HOPE! from the EU-funded theatre network PlayOn! will take place from 4. – 6. April 2022. The organizers of this conference want to dive into digital technologies which expand the spaces of theatre and attract new audiences. This extract is taken directly from HOPE’s website. Happening now! Don’t miss out!

To sign up, go to the official website, right here.

More than 20 experts worldwide from theatre, technology and science will present outstanding theatre performances, new research approaches and give hands-on workshops.

Panel discussions will explore how XR technologies can expand theatre aesthetics and create new opportunities for set design, costumes and audience participation.

The HOPE! audience can participate in numerous interactive formats at HOPE! directly.

HOPE! is a free offer.

The live stream on the bottom of the HOPE home page is available from 04.04.2022 09:30 (CET) to 06.04.2022 16:00 (CET).

HOPE will explore the importance of spatial sound / immersive music and mixed reality (VR & AR) / metaverse through exemplary productions.

They are also interested in microcontrollers and tracking systems including robotics.

HOPE will explore ways in which the public / virtual space can be opened up for theatres and their audiences.

Familiar old conventions of theatre are challenged by digital technologies. New spaces are developed through immersive performances.

The spatial expansion into the virtual also allows the audience to take on a new role and become part of the narrative development, co-creating the storyline.

However, this is not intended to change the traditional understanding that theatre is a live medium where audience and artists meet directly – virtually and / or in real life.

The EU-funded platform PlayOn!, consisting of 9 theatres with experience in the artistic application of digital technologies and 9 universities with proven digital expertise, will run the three-day Creative Online Forum HOPE! Dive In: Immersive Theatre in expanded spaces.
