The Rolling Stones Announce Sixty Tour UK Summer Shows

Following the sad and sudden passing of drummer Charlie Watts in August last year, The Rolling Stones have announced new shows for the UK as part of their Sixty Tour this summer. The band’s drummer was replaced with session musician Steve Jordan for shows in the USA last year, with Jordan set to make another return for the European tour.

The band’s announcement of the upcoming shows came as excellent news to fans following a sad year. Called ‘Sixty’, the tour marks the anniversary of the many unbelievable years The Rolling Stones have been together. Commemorating the six decades from 1962 – 2022 that the group has been playing, the official statement explained the three remaining members, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood would be getting back out on the road over the summer of 2022.

“The Stones just keep on rolling! We are thrilled to announce the Rolling Stones 2022 Tour! Titled SIXTY to celebrate 60 special years together – Mick, Keith and Ronnie will be playing dates across Europe this summer, including two shows at London’s BST Hyde Park.”

While Keith Richards said:

“Sorry to keep you all hanging around, but the waiting is over. I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on being on stage with the Stones and this year is very special. Looking forward to rehearsing with Mick and Ronnie and some friends, the wheels are in motion. See you all very soon.”

Ronnie Wood added:

“When I look out at the sea of people when we play in Europe all I can see is smiles. It’s heart-warming and I’m glad we make people happy every time we play live. Can’t wait to get on this brand-new stage with the boys and have some fun.”

The Sixty Tour will kick off in Madrid, before moving through central Europe, onto the UK, back through mainland Europe, and finally wrapping up in Sweden. The tickets for both June and July go on general sale via The Rolling Stones official website from Friday 18^th March, and full dates and venues are currently listed as:

The tour is rumoured to include numbers from the band’s momentous back catalogue, as well as featuring new production and staging elements. The summer of 2022 is shaping up to be a promising one for The Rolling Stones in Europe, and is certainly looking like it will be one to remember for positive reasons.
