Women in the Entertainment Industry: Antonia Collins

Antonia Collins

We are asking women in the entertainment industry around the world some key questions about their life and career. Here is Antonia Collins based in Wales.

1. In which part of the industry do you work?

Theatre and Education.

2. Have you drawn professional inspiration from other women in the entertainment industry? How have they inspired you?

Yes absolutely. Barbara Eifler (who went on to run the UK SMA) was the first SM I worked with professionally and I learnt so much from her. Then I have to mention Hilary Boulding who was my boss when I was working full time in education. She is an amazing leader and was so supportive. I want to be her when I grow up!

3. What would you tell young women who are just starting out? What would you like them to know?

You can do anything you want to do. You just have to work out how.

4. What is the best piece of career advice you have ever received?

Everyone you pass on the way up you pass on the way back down.

5. Please share one of your toughest challenges in your career. How did you overcome?

Over committing to doing too many things and I still haven’t worked that one out…

Depends but Rent will always have a special place in my heart.

10. At what point in your career did you become a mother? What was your entertainment industry job?

I was 26 and 32 when I had my children. I was an SM the first time and an educator the second.

Not a lot but it was quite a long time ago.
