ETC Ion.

2. What do you always have with you at your console?

Paperwork.

3. Mac or PC?

Mac.

4. What may be surprising that you don’t use?

Vectorworks / AutoCad.

5. Coffee or Tea?

Coffee.

6. What is your favorite genre of entertainment to work in?

Theater, Dance, Corporate.

7. What is your favorite color combination and why?

Teal & Magenta, just really pretty colors.

8. Who is an lighting designer that you admire and respect?

Arden Fingerhut, gone too soon.

9. What are the top 5 skill sets that a Lighting Designer/Technician should have?

Imagination, Communication, Easy going, Being prepared, Roll with the punches.

10. What is the best type of client/boss/director?

Someone who lets me do my thing, and if they don’t like it, will have a better idea.

11. Do you prefer a window or aisle seat?

Aisle, for my long legs.

11. What advice do you have for those who want to become a lighting designer or a lighting technician?

School is usually a good place to start. Or find a theater or production company where you can volunteer, apprentice or just get your foot in the door. Make friends and contacts. Too often this business is about who you know rather than what you know. Be good at what you do.
