What’s a show that inspires you? (explain away!)

Come From Away is simply the most beautifully inspiring story I have gotten to watch on the stage. It’s a story of trials, tribulation, and the beauty of humanity.

What’s one of your happiest moments in theatre?

One of my happiest moments in theatre would have to be having one of my former students move on into theatre education. Danysha Ligon will always hold a special place in my heart as an amazing theatre student, STO, and now teacher. I am so proud of her and the artist she has become.

What’s the biggest ‘fail’ or goof you’ve seen on stage? (do tell the story)

When I was cast as Ariel in The Tempest, I “flew” off stage nightly on a zip line. On opening night, for the first time ever, the zipline GOT STUCK! I was swinging mid-air in front of a huge audience and a mortified tech director. I was able to swing myself back on to the platform behind me and “hide” behind a “tree” until the next black out.

Why do you love theatre?

I love theatre because it represents a home for so many as well as a bond beyond what you experience in a regular day-to-day life.

Theatre is for…

HUMANITY

Everyone, no matter race, gender, or religion, can get something from the arts. It shows us how to be real, caring, challenging, and inclusive. Stories of theatre teach so much.
