It has been two years since María Isabel Murillo, better known as MISI passed away. However, her legacy is still standing strong and growing. Her students remember her as a warrior, a woman forever in love with children, dreamer, demanding and always with a smile on her face.
When we reopened ARC in September, we knew there was a strong possibility that we would have to close again if COVID levels rose. It was important to prepare for this, not just in practical terms but also mentally. We were determined to remain motivated as an organisation to continue our work in different ways if we did have to close.
Ideally, as an artist, I would move through these steps starting as a young artist at the beginning of my career and moving on from there, but you know what they say about planting a tree. The best time to do so was 20 years ago, the second best time is today.
