Our Most Precious Gift – Family by Natasha Jean-Bart

Lincoln Hudson
I remember sitting in the green room by myself between shows during my time at The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil. Every time Lincoln Hudson would spot me, he would ask politely if he could join me. There were only a few artists who had children then.
He would always ask me about how my children and grandchild were, how I was holding up, and try to cheer me up because he knew I did not have them all with me in Las Vegas. He shared his hope to one day be a father with me. Acting had been a huge part of his life; he was desperately searching for the woman that would share that gift with him. He was a sweet man who wanted to be loved.
When I heard of Lincoln’s passing, first I was sad, he was still so young. Then I thought of his daughter that had just lost her mother too. It broke my heart.
Suddenly it all came back to me. These short but timely conversations I had with him about love, children and family.
He received his wish, and then he was gone, just like that. He reminds us all that life is fragile, that love is the most important thing, and that our careers should never get in the way of what is our most precious gift — family. Bless your soul, dear Lincoln. Wherever you are, love, light and peace to you.
