Every Broadway and Marvel fan has long awaited (not 70 years long, but still long) the arrival of this Cap-tivating musical. First conceived for the 2021 series Hawkeye, which featured the musical number “Save The City” which was also performed live at the following years D23 expo. Then, in February of 2023 the franchise announced that Rogers: The Musical would be running a one-act version of the musical at Disneyland California from June 30th until August 31st with a current run time of approximately 30 minutes. Even though it’s an extremely short run time, for a miniature version of a musical, they fit quite a bit of Cap’s life in.
Though every Marvel fan knows Captain America felt more like a dancing monkey during his musical touring days, this particular tribute to his life makes us wonder if even he would learn to laugh along. Playing this summer at the Hyperion Theatre, the show features multiple familiar faces and already known songs including the man himself, Fury (who has a singing part!). The miniature show takes you through the romance of Cap’s early days when he first met Peggy all the way to when he leads the Avengers. Some familiar songs long-term fans may remember that are featured in the musical include: “Save The City” from Hawkeye, and “Star Spangled Man” from Captain America: The First Avenger.
The mini-musical even includes special effects that will have everyone wondering if they really gave one of the actors super-soldier-serum. The audience gets to witness right in front of them the changing of Steve Rogers to Captain America.

Although Rogers: The Musical has only recently debuted, tickets for many of the shows have already sold and fans both new and old are coming out with glorifying debuts. Some fans are even already calling for the show to be officially on Broadway, which would not be a surprising next step for the franchise. Luckily, the show already has a raging review from The Daily Bugle.
Rogers: The Musical runs multiple times a day Tuesday through Saturday most weeks but has a virtual queue that guests can access the wait times and tickets for. For Marvel fans who aren’t too interested in the actual singing parts, the mini-musical does answer some questions about what happened after Thanos, including older time-travelling Rogers speaking to younger Rogers.
While it may not be surprising to see this show eventually come to a larger stage, or even touring, it almost didn’t come to fruition in the first place. The entire musical was pitched to the studio’s president as a joke and quite a few people on the production team were more than a little surprised when he was excited and enthusiastically gave the go-ahead early on. With the show making great reviews, reminiscing about romance, and bringing large audiences in on a regular basis, it’s not hard to predict that we will see much more of this mini-musical either in the extended MCU films and shows or live in New York City.
